    D4 Air con knobs

Can anyone tell me please how to remove the air conditioner knobs? My partner was cleaning up the interior and put some cleaning goo on them, and now they are all sticky. She was using some innocuous cleaner, but obviously the rubber on the knobs didn't think it was innocuous!

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Paul

They will come straight off with a bit of gentle leverage from a trim tool or a butter knife.

You can also get full replacement sets from eBay for $30-$40, or use acetate (nail polish remover) to clean off the sticky stuff.

BTW - Are you sure it was the cleaning fluid that did it? They're well known to go sticky all by themselves.
If at first you don't succeed, that's one data point. - xkcd

Thanks Redtail, that all looks easier than I had expected. Yes, the knobs were fine before she put on the cleaning goo, but if they are available on ebay there must be a good demand so maybe they were due anyway.

    Get them from eBay.
Much easier than trying to clean them, failing, and then getting them from eBay.

Thanks Ron, that makes sense - I will order right now!

Alibaba is dirt cheap! Just grab them and wiggle then while pulling. They'll come off

I just used a cleaning goo to remove the sticky goo and was left with perfect plastic dials. I removed then with a trim lever to do this. The ones you buy on eBay etc aren’t soft coated so you might as well just clean yours off and reuse them

EBay also has a set in moulded plastic - look ok and no rubber to absorb skin oils - which is what the goo activated…

That sticky stuff is a product of your finger oils…
