    2008 D3 shudder and hissing.

    Good Evening.
Not visited this Dark Side before. Happy sticking to the Series Section......
Was contacted by my very elderly Neighbours yesterday. They have a 2008 D3. Leather seats, Not sure of Model. Can find out if needed.
Of course, when I called today the problem seem to Vanish, until I was driving out the Driveway.
Sometimes with engine running in P or Stationary in D a shudder noise appears, vanishing as you move away.
Looking underneath the noise appears, near the rear diff area, and as the noise goes, a loud short Hissing Noise. Also, I believe a suspension light is on the Dash.
Bob told me he could lower or raise the Suspension but was unable to do it when I asked him to show me. The shudder is a noise, no noticeable shuddering movement.
I was thinking to raise and lower suspension, a compressor of some sort would be needed with maybe some sort of pressure relief valve. Could this be the noises.
    Thanks for comments and suggestions.

The suspension compressor is under the floor in the vicinity of the left rear seat. Check if the noise is eminating from that area.

Sounds like the compressor may have come loose or the canister that holds the dissicant may have a problem and is loosing air and runs only till the system faults which will shut the compressor down.

Proberly remove the compressor cover and eyeball the compressor and see if anything is noticable. Its tucked away nice and tight so may be hard to see an issue but you may be able to feel or hear the air escaping .

The cover is under the car in front of the rear passenger wheel and is plastic. It has 1 bolt that goes up thru the cover and 2 x torx head bolts that fix it to the chassis . 1 front and 1 rear .
