    Spare wheel

    I'm sick and tired of getting bashed in the back by the rear door with the spare tyre attached. How can I go about setting up a bonnet mount? I doubt if I could lift the wheel onto the rear carrier anyway>

    Why would it be easier geting it on the bonnet mount? If you tell us what vehicle you've got someone will be along with an idea or two...

    TDI or TD5? it does make a difference as the TD5 has ledd bonnet bracing and isn't as strong.

    I've got a bonnet mount on my series 3, not so bad to get it down (stand it uo and bounce it off), but getting it up is a real mongrel!

    Have you thought about fitting a gas strut on the inside of your door to hold it open?????

    Works like a treat.

    Universal Engineering Supplies have a great stock of all struts and mounting hardware.

    Who needs spare wheels and tyres these days?

    Apparently most manufacturers of new cars (and 4wds) think we can do without them, You don't even get a spare in the Commoodre any more, do you?

    I like the idea of the gas strut....

    or just don't open the back door.LOL!!

    i have a gas strut fitted to my rear door (spare already removed) i need a bit more pressure in it as a good wind or a bit of a slope the door still shuts.

    i have a tdi with bonnet kit, works good, off road can be a pain at times

    Rosco on the forum copied my setup and he still has his spare trye fitted to the door, he got a strut that is controlled on opening (not sure what tech name is) where as mine if you don't hang onto the door it fly open

    Opposite lock do a bonnet mounting kit for the TD5 Fenders, here.
