    Dual Mapped LPG 3.9 V8

    Hi all,
Like most folk with an LPG 3.9 V8, my MAF is 'ted and I havent bothered to replace it.
I have had LPG cars for ever and know that tuning for dual fuel is a 'best fit'. Currently, due to my MAF not being any use, I have had it tuned closer to LPG. A dual mapped ECU is the answer.
I have done a quick search of the forums and found a few posts that mention dual mapping of the 3.9 V8 but not any that actually include testimony or explain the process they went through.
Anyone actually got or had a dual mapped 3.9 V8 on LPG and would like to offer some advice? Particularly suppliers, cost and benefits.

my old disco had a dual map in it but it was only single fuel and worked off the WOT sensor (wide open throttle) and brake light switch.

Floor it and it would get the message that outa here right now was the order of the moment and it would switch to the big map. Tap the brakes and it would get the yeah well now we dont need to go so fast message and goto the conservative map.

It can be done. I forget the name of the company that did mine and havent looked into it since.

I bought an ignition advance module for LPG to fit to my previous RR classic but never got around to fitting it. I must sell it....

But on the subject of dual mapping, I've spoken to Ward at Graeme Cooper Auto last week about getting my P38A dual mapped after the SVI LPG is installed.

They no longer use the UniChip, they are now fitting the Haltech Interceptor http://www.haltech.com.au/interceptor.htm and that will do dual mapping.

Jaycar sell a programmable electronic ignition kit that can be set for two advance/retard curves. You can switch between them according to what fuel you are using.

Do you mean you want to replace your MAF and fit something like a Unichip or replace the ECU with a dual map unit that does not need a MAF?

I think the RPI website has a unit that they sell that appears similar to the Unichip.

I'll be looking into something along these lines after my LPG is installed.

Ralph, ring Ward Freeland at Graham Coopers in Sydney (02)9550 2689 and have a chat to him, I am going to LPG in my Disco and he will be fitting a Unichip which he sets up the ignition to operate optimally on ULP and LPG by dual Mapping. he reckons best of both worlds, Unichip fitted and dyno tuned is around $1500, Regards Frank.

Complete Haltech with Fuel and Ignition Mapping, DUal Maps etc.. was only around $1700 when I had my disco done.

Better economy, got rid of the POS MAF and went MAP which proved more reliable....

With that done, got Adelaide to Melb and Back to Ballarat on 95 litres in a 95 V8
