"legal" rear ladder on defender

Hi,

I ordered in a one piece rear ladder for my fender from my local Oppy Lock store. The dealer was going to fit, but rang me and said it was not legal as it obscures part of the number plate. It looks like I will have to go for a 2 piece one. Does any know of a one piece ladder that does not obscure the number plate?

And you can't re-locate the number plate?

Seems moving the plate is the best idea. It seems odd to me someone would not do that. Even if you fastened it to the bottom of the ladder.

The problem isn't relocating the number plate, the wheel carrier seems the obvious place, it's the wiring for the number plate light

I needed a ladder for my Defender, and went down to the Marine shop in Williamstown, and got two mast steps. One is mounted just below the number plate, and the other at the junction of where the two wall sections meet. Folding step, to lower mast step. Upper mast step, to rear tyre.

All up cost less than $15 dollars.

Look into the factory one, I presume its legal if its an approved accessory.

It's not full length, only the top half.

Not my car but the same ladder and rack as on the Blue County, (Is it standard LR accessary?)



Is very solid due to it's steel construction, I see no reason one could not be built up to a modern 110.
