    Freelander 2006 woes

Hello new to this forum, i have been reading many posts and it seems there are some real experts here and i am hoping someone can give me some advice.

Our 2006 built freelander Td4 just ran out of warranty in feb. i started noticing there were periods when i was pushing on the accelerator and there was no power at all.

i was just about to take it for its first genuine offroad this eatser but instead I ran it straight to the mech and he was too busy to give me a full assessment but he said the computer read 'fuel pump pressure low'

i asked him how much it would be to replace and he replied 'i dont want to ruin your weekend'

in anyones experience is this a common problem, and especially after only 44,000kms?

2006 build & it's out of warranty - I take it you're not in Australia (unless you do mega Km).

We have replaced a few Freelander fuel pumps so it could well be the same with yours. It was nice of your mechanic to not ruin your weekend though .

If it's still under warranty (which it will be if it's a 2006 build & less than 100000km), then you should be taking it to a dealer.
Otherwise, it will be big $$ .
