Ron’s Home made Forward control S2 Land Rover
A couple of weeks ago I posted an article on two unusual land rover sighting near my home with in an hour of each other.
To day with the yard done and other home duties completed I contacted the owner of the S2 forward control and asked if I could go over and photograph it , was I in for a surprise this vehicle started life as an S 2 109 tray back land rover and Ron has striped and rebuilt it all him self in 1989 on the initial rebuild he replace engine with a Holden motor in 1993 this motor was replace with a 3.9 Isuzu motor and Isuzu gear box, the transfer box is from a Nissan Patrol and Land rover Diffs which were changed , The vehicle is still using the original 5 core radiator .
All mods to this vehicle were carried out at Ron,s home and the only parts that were not made by him is the body panels forward of the fire wall these were made by a metal fabrication place at Rocklea in Brisbane . Low range 1st gear gives a stump pulling 63-1 ratio and a top gear speed of 130 Kph can be reached, Ron has pulled a caravan around all over Australia and through the centre with an average of 14 lts to 100k with van
The old saying a photo speaks a thousand words so here are some.
I am goin to have to use another post to include more photos

A back-yard forward control is no less important than any of the other after-market forward controls done in factories (Like the Charmichael)
In-fact I think your friend Ron's work is a better design, or at least closer to the Land Rover Factory design.
Thanks for posting the thread.
