good thing you measured the skid, and are reporting it.
yep the modern miss was probably already on the phone before she hit you.
In addition to Harry's altercation with the little Jap number a week or so ago the tale of another one. Pun intended.
Coming home around lunchtime today, I was stopped with my right hand indicator on, in a 50Km zone, waiting for the line of cars coming towards me to pass.
By this time I've been stopped for about 10-15 secongs, when, you guessed it I looked back in response to a great cloud of blue smoke, screeching tyres and a silver Commodore trying to embed itself in the freckle of my Disco.
Sigh, I move to the left side of the road to asses the damage and to see if anyone is injured. A small crowd gathers, and this young blonde thing emerges from the Commodore (mobile phone stuck in ear) and proceeds to give me a mouthfull in a different version of polite English conversation than what I'm used to. The bottom line, it appears, is - how dare I stop.
She's obviously physically O.K, the same cannot be said for the Commodore. It needs, shall I say, 'some attention' to the front end.
I checked my new steel rear bar and surprise, surprise, the powder coating is not even scratched. Nothing, Zip, Zilch, Zero .
Still waiting, I get her rego number, some personal details of witnesses, some of whom I have to assist from the ground, because they've fallen down laughing for the mouthful this pretty young thing has given me. Like - she's hit me from behind at speed and it's my fault.
She drives off.
I went home to get a tape measure and proceed back to get both photos of the skid marks and length. 18.3 mtrs long they are and in a 50km zone on a dry road.
Now tell me she's doing 50kms.
When will people slow down, especially when following Landrovers?. I'll see the police tomorrow and give them her Victorian rego details etc..
So Harry, its' not just Jap numbers that don't do well when running up the freckles of Landrovers, the Australian jobs don't fare much better.
Cheers
Discos .

I recon I would have left a fair skid mark also if I was there
What will the accident investigation people do when ABS is throughout the vehicle fleet and there are no skidmarks anymore? Soon the only skidmarks will be in their undies. I wonder if measuring those can help you measure the accident speed?

You are not wrong Louie. But this should make you smile even more.
My eldest son reckons that I should buy a small Holden decal and affix it to my rear bumper bar.
Along the lines of the allied WW2 fighter pilots who put German or Jap insignia near their cockpits to signify a 'kill'.
He reckons that I can get a whole range of car decals at the Carrara markets so I can keep score of the numbers and types of cars that have crunched themselves on my Disco's freckle.
I kinda like the idea and it should not be long given that soooo many people travel soooo close on the Gold Coast's roads.
What do you think?
By the way the Police did not want to know about it and I had to plead with them to register the fact that I reported it.
I've got a real nasty feeling about this one, not that I've had many car accidents. But things just don't seem to sit right.
Cheers
Disco2 .
Hey mate, I reckon my accident beats yours, though the Toyota was the clear winner in my case. Sharlea got hit in the rear with the D3..2 odd yrs ago, was a bit of damage to the D3...the Corolla got taken away on a flat bed, glad your ok,
Regards
Stevo
Mate, I'd still report it to your insurance and get the vehicle checked to make sure theres no cracks etc in the chassis back there.
A good hit can do small folds which can cost dollars!
And because you have bimbos details it wont cost you at all.
Glad your ok
