Check this 1987 2 door Rangie on Ebay... looks nice, but would it have been originally built with carbs?

Interesting. It has the later instruments, and looks like the post 82 rear window sliders, so looks original and not an old pre 82 body.
It could be a carby 3.5 as AFAIR the "van" basic version had 3.5 for some time. Discos in UK were originally introduced with carby 3.5.
IFAIR the last Classic off line in 1995 was a 2 door. They made 2 door "vans" right through for the European market.
