Car kit install - Power source and audio mute

    Hiya,

I have a Nokia CK-7W blue tooth car kit that I want to fit to the D3. Would appreciate advice on where to find an easy to get to 12v source within the dash.

Also, is there a way I can use the audio output of the car kit through the stereo and utilise audio mute on an incoming call?

    Cheers.

    Hi WhiteD3,
I did 2 of these this week so i can give u some useful info.
Power can be taken from the headlight switch to the right of your steering wheel. Just pull this section off using firm but gentle tugging. You may/maynot break a clip, but can be replaced easily from spares.
Grab from the corner of the panel that incorporated the air vent as it comes away as one unit.
+ve power supply (red) is connected to the Brown/Green wire
Ignition switch (blue) is connected to the Brown/purple wire(the thinner one!) & earth is connected to the black wire.
The yellow wire for the mute goes to the rear of the stereo in Pin 10 of the smaller plug. You will know what i mean when u remove the head unit.
Pin 10 is blank & does not have a wire coming from it. You will have to find a terminal to fit into the plug that then plugs back into the stereo.
This will trigger the mute when an incoming call is registered & on the stereo will say phone mute from memory.
Anymore help required dont hesitate to ask.
    Cheers.
p.s. the button i normally fit above the internal air temp sensor on the L/h/s of the s/wheel. On the section where the light switch would go.

    CaverD3, Brown/Green is permanent, brown/purple is ignition.

Thanks Sniegy, all installed and going. It was certainly easier than trying to get to the cig lighters!

The only way i know of at present is via the factory kit. $$$$$$$
Its a pretty complicated system & it doesnt allow outsiders in.
I havent done it as of yet, but some of the audio systems guys have played & may have come up with an idea. But then again i havent & dont want to damage anything.
The factory kit utilizes an amplifier & switch box in one. When the Audio guys fit equipment they use an amplifier of some description which can use the stereo system speakers. But then again the customer is the one who pays for this!
Not something that is off the shelf unfortunately.
    Sorry
