    D3 LPG in Oz

    Re-posted from D3 / RR UK-lpg link.

I was speaking to Range Rover Automotive today; they are converting the first D3 V8 at the moment, it will then have to go to Sydney for certification. It will retain original fuel tank, so either a external wheel carrier has to be used, or carry some cans of tyre puncture repair . Twin 35ltr tanks mounted underneath. Cost is to be around $6000 + tyre carrier !!
They expect to have it for demo etc in about 5-6 weeks.

$6000 grand for LPG they're joking

If you can afford to outlay $64000 plus for new D3 you can surely afford the fuel costs

Most D3 would be lease deals on salary package so your on 3 year changeover your never going to see your LPG savings as capital repayent on $6000 from fuel cost savings wont happen on average milage for at least 3 to 5 years

And if your splashing $6000 on LPG you might as well go all the way go and get a diesel V8

Sounds more like your $3000 plus Govt $3000 rebate scheme makes a tidy profit for them

Quite agree.....well overpriced. $6000 dollars of petrol is a long way. Must be close to 24000-28000kms of travel (at today's Petrol costs).

Do you get $3000 dollars from the government in rebate now?

Not that you can actually get a V8 Diesel Disco 3 (www.landrover.com.au Discovery Engines )

Not that the LPG Rebate scheme gives you $3,000. (Actually $2,000 AusIndustry.Gov.au - LPG Vehicle Scheme )

That $6k is probably the "early adopters" price so it should come down in a few years time as more people take up the option.

Or LR could just bloody well install the TDV8 in the D3 and save us all some trouble.

Bit of confusion over the $2000 / $3000 rebate .
It comes about because the Federal govt gives a $2000 rebate, and the WA govt gives a $1000 rebate to its people .
So, $3000 in WA and $2000 in the rest of the country .

Agree $6000 is way overpriced .
Still, its probably quite reasonable from a company that asks $800 dollars for a set of genuine RR floor mats .

    For general info-
Regarding the aerosol cans of tyre repair, there no substitute for a spare .
When I tow my boat I actually carry a couple of cans, but thats in addition to the spare on the trailer .There only there as a last resort . They're only good for small punctures, and according to my local tyre dealer, the gunk they squirt into the tyre prevents the tyre people from repairing the tyre, so its throw the tyre away and buy a new tyre .

    Cheers John

I don't guess I'd save very much if I drove over to WA from Sydeney for my next LPG conversion.

Certainly not for a non-WA registered vehicle anyway, as you'd still only get a$2k rebate plus a big fuel bill.
