    Smile Diesel conversion

Hi all, I have been offered a 2H toyota motor extremely cheap. Am considering squeezing this into my 11a with a view to running it on biodiesel.
Has anyone heard of this conversion being done, or will it be too much of a headache to make happen.
Cheers any comments pos or neg much appreciated.

I don't know much about them but they are 4.0 L (3980 cc) inline 6, 12 valve OHV diesel engine. Output is between 103 hp (77 kW) at 3500 rpm -and 107 hp (80 kW) with 177 ft·lbf (215 N·m) of torque at 2000 rpm.

I bet they are very heavy.

You would need to get one newer than the LR if you wanted it engineered. (looks like they were in production in the early 80's so that sould be fine)

No knowledge of the conversion itself or if its possible though!

you can fit ford sixes in okay but you need to move the breadboard forward and i think you would need to do the same with a yota mota. height may get you as well...i just went with a lr diesel and that was bloody heavy enough

They go in ok. A 110 front would make it easier and neater. Best use the Toymota Engine loom, start control box,Gear box,Transfer and 4.11 diffs I'm converting a S111 here soon this way. Tony

It might be a bit much for the gearbox and diffs

IT'll work but the height will be a bit of a squeeze if you try to retain the over the engine breathing.

going a later front end and shifting the radiator forwards is a good way to go but they are bloody heavy and will eat the gearbox. as suggested if your going this way best go the toymota box.

    G'day Olive Drab

I would suggest that you source a Landrover 200 or 300 TDI diesel as they are a near on straight bolt up, the 200tdi is closest, they use the same engine mounts etc. 2.5 litre and about 10l per 100klm you can then fit 3.54 diff centres which gives you good road speed, BUT upgrade your brakes with 3" wide front drums (from a 6cyl Landy and a booster)

    cheers

Ive been thinking of doing the 200tdi conversion myself, its quite a cheap conversion if you dont use the turbo and lees stress on your running gear as well. have a look at this site seams to fit very easily with very few mods needed.
