As long as you have your inhibitor up to the correct concentration keep them full. If you drain them they will rust on the inside. I have seen too many engines left dry and when they are eventually refilled and fired up the rust on the water pump shaft just rips the seal to bits and your in for a new pump. Unless you have brass frost plugs these will probably let go as well and it will always be the one behind the engine that goes first.[
