    brake master cyl. for 1954

A friend here is rebuilding the brakes on his 1954 86" . He's had all the cyls sleeved and new rubber kits and new pipes etc. Problem is: the master cyl. piston or plunger is pitted.. he needs a replacement. Anyone got a spare ?

From the discussion on here a few weeks ago, it would seem that the plunger from a later master cylinder would suit. As the later master cylinders are available new, perhaps the plunger is available new.

Further to that comment - unlike the bore of the cylinder, the piston is not very critical, either in surface finish (except perhaps for the seal seat) or hardness, and a replacement should be able to be made by any competent machine shop. From memory they are simply turned, although lapping or polishing may be necessary on the seal seat.
