Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Like Lou says, clean the contacts on the camera body and also on the lenses. Clean the entire mounting ring as well.
The other thing is move the focus switch around a few times between M, S and C.
What lenses are you using are they ones with a built in motor or that need to be driven from the camera. The early AF lenses (about pre-1990) had a screw like connector to the motor in the camera body. If its something like that then its off to a repairer or a new D300.

and take the battery right out, leave, re-insert.
But sounds like a repair job.
All the above suggestions worked with my D200. Upgrade the software if available
Is the Manual/Auto switch on the lense set correctly?
D100 has no firmware upgrades available. However, it may be worth searching the Nikon Knowledge Base website.
