    Genuine Raised air intake

Contemplating going to a D3, Does the genuine raised air intake (snorkel) offer an advantages / disadvantages over after market models (for TDV6)?

Recall seeing some comment that genuine is not fully sealed?

the genuine parts item isnt watertight, it all depends on what you indend on doing with your D3

Intention for snorkel to be a security blanket in case I stuff up crossing creek i.e. find a hole!, If it is not water tight then that appears to defeat the purpose.

Get the Safari, which can also take a Donaldson aircleaner. The LR version can be made waterproof. Search disco3.co.uk for details. There are two parts from the Safari kit that could be added to the LR RAI, but unless you already have the RAI just get the Safari.

    Hi Robert,
i have searched the disco3 site re this but i am still unclear as to how to make a LR rai water proof; does it just entail using the safari elbow and piping instead of the lr ones?
    Cheers,
    Peter

Yes, or you can seal up the LR elbow (the part with all the holes in it) and make a seal from the LR pipe to the RAI body.

Do you mean with respect to the Safari one, or with respect to the original intake?

I heard the other day that Ritters have a conversion kit to make the original LR RAI more waterproof.

    Not sure of price.

    Regards
