    Tried this?

Does anyone on her know of or anyone have this system them selves? A family friend with a 300tdi showed it to me and was asking if anyone on this forum would know anything about it so Just wondering if it is a good idea and how much you paid for the set up and what you think of the system.

Also how much does it cost and where do you get the veg oil? im guessing it would be far better to bye in bulk!

sounds like an expensive version of what I did to fozzy.

the most expensive part for me was the changeover valve which I have done differently to them and my total cost was still under $500 and $450 of that was for the valve. I have worked out a cheaper way using some different pumps and valves.

In this hot climate (whinging Irish pom), I wouldn't bother, unless the temperature ever drops towards 0 oC. I've been running a 200 Tdi on 50-80% veg oil (rape/sunflower) mixed with diesel for 2 years now, with no problems on the Isle of Man (she is waiting for me in Botany Bay now). Many UK Tdi owners are mixing and running at 100% with no problems, we just had to be a bit careful when the temperature drops. For running in NSW I’d be happy running at >80% year round. If your using old oil, just make sure it’s very very well filtered and run as 50:50 mix. The trick with veg oil, is to make sure it is premixed before putting it in the tank.

We ran a Pug 306 on 80-100% year round, an old Citroen AX on 50% even with a CAV pump. If you are at all worried a 30% mix is deemed by most to be inordinately safe.

The system was for a mate, but after reading this post i could see me using a veg mix...i might try it say maybe the 30% veg like you said and just see how it goes. See if i can notice any differences. But the question is where do i get roughly 30L of Veg oil???

You say it is best mixed before in the tank how would i manage this when i fill the car up at a servo? should i be filling a drum of the mix? then syphoneing it into my tank?

I used to use a 20L jerry can (10 L of veg oil, 10L diesel and invert it several times). If your pour the veg oil straight in the tank it tends to sink to the bottom without mixing properly.

30% veg oil will do no harm.

Were would be the best place to get 20-30L of Veg oil? i have a few 20L jerry cans so i might fill each one with 10L of diesel and then top them up with veg oil and invert them as you said to get a good mix. And run that in the tank and see what i think of it. Would this have the same effect as bio diesel? as in after a tank the fuel filter will need replacing as it will actually clean the lines?

What price should i expect to pay for that amount of veg oil?

Ok i am going to do this as i have read a lot of people in UK are running crazy mixtures of up to 90% veg oil...

I will try a 30% mix first to be safe and see if there are any side effects. I have found this local place who sells bulk items but which oil should i be using?

    Bibina Foods

Also would running this in my tank most prob lead to my fuel filter clogging up as i have heard people having this problem with bio diesel which is pretty much what i am making.

Cheers hope to hear from someone soon as i was going to buy the oil tomorrow to have a mix ready for when my tank gets down to the fuel level low light. As when i add a 50/50 mix in a 20L jerry can and add that i will have 1/3 veg oil which is cloes to what i want and to have a true test i will also mix the last 10L of veg oil to do the test again.

I will let you guys know how it goes and if i am happy i will try a 50/50 mix but i will not go any higher then that!

    Cheers James.

    hot oil fuel

Mate put this into his Nissan Navara to run on waste veg oil. Not sure who's system it is but works very effectively. Starts on dieso then changes over when up to temp.

I gave him all of my oil when moving house.
