    black smoke no power

    bouoght car week ago engine let go on way home (no warranty by car yard given) changed engine with exchange from 4x4 place. Now new engine had fault light come up on dash and wont climb up mountains and emits black smoke.. need help

    hi sorry its a 2004 freelander with td4 manual did an alnighter on friday to change engines over then drove from wollongong to kangaroo valley all fine but wife then went to nowra fault light came on going over mountain so she left car down there.

    My suggestion is that it has blown an intercooler hose off, or punctured it. I just had a 2002 do this, exact same symptoms. The top I/C hose was the culprit, it had perforated due to being oil soaked for so long.

    i thought car yards gad to give a short warranty if you spend over a certain amount on the vehicle.

    no warranty because in small print they say are auction yard.pty ltd but on ebay say are authorised dealer with statutory warranty

    was the car sold through a classified listing on EBAY or an auction? it might be worth talking to the office of fair trading about it

    fault found

    hi smoke problem found massive turbo failure will contact wrecking yard for replacement... cheers to all for help....Rob M
