    Clutch again

Clutch....?"{":}@!}#:$@%:. I have followed all the instructions in the rave manual and advice from other members and cannot get this thing right. Its a new Borg and Brel? with a heavy duty clutch plate, new thrust bearing, and heavy duty clutch fork also new are the master and slave cylinders- seem to be bled right.
I set the pedal height first with the pedal height adjustment screw to 140 mm OK. next tried to get the 1.5mm play on the master and all thats landed up happening is that I have adjusted the pedal lower. Please help, what am I doing wrong????
The clutch feels a bit weird in that it is dead and then takes suddenly but thru the gears it feels good. It seems that the take up point is about midway up the pedal travel which should be normal?? Please help.
    Thanks
    Mal

Mal, if you've adjusted the pedal height via the pedal stop the pedal can't go any lower unless the pushrod was limiting the stroke and not the stop.

If your pedal height is now too low, leave the push rod alone for the moment and adjust the height back up via the pedal stop on the front of the box, then adjust for free play on the pushrod.

Regarding the feel of the clutch, make sure the assist spring is properly mounted on the pedal arm. If it isn't the take up can be a bit sudden.

The Borg and Beck clutch (AP) is a quality item, the problem is in the adjustment.
FWIW, I didn't touch any of the pedal settings when I changed my clutch nearly two years ago, and all I did when I changed the M/C a few months back was measure the pushrod length and re-instal at that length with the new M/C.

depending on how ''heavy duty'' it is, its opperation (instant) may be correct. brass button clutches are in or out...nothing in between.

i too have done what rick has done...changed the clutch and havnt touched the adjustments.

    cheers phil
