    Aging 130

My old Mans 130 300 Tdi is starting to show its age, 300000 + kms. It has started to use a bit of water over the last week so time to change the head gasket. Who has the best prices on these?

Also it has developed an oil leak that seams to be running down from above the oil filter and collecting in the top of the diff housing. Anyone had this happen before. I searched on here but could only find info about the rear seals.

    Cheers,

    Tim

I am in the same boat with the oil leak...after a bit of research, I was told it is the lift pump. Mine is leaking oil quite badly and I am getting it fixed tomorrow.

    Cheers

From memory, lift pump is further rearwards on the engine and won't leak near the oil filter.

As Jon said, oil cooler fitting O rings or could be oil pressure sender.
Mine has started to leak from both too.

I'd check the radiator too, it may not be the head gasket, but from what JC has said a precautionary change may not be a bad call anyway.

I agree with "o" rings to i've replaced a few in customers cars now they go hard with age and squash into a triangle shape, less than a $1 an 8mm socket and 5mins of your life and your good to go.
