Looks good mate - and the added bonus of keeping the kiddies that little bit safer.

Ok i got a new cargo barrier for the 110 this week.
Main reason for one was as a dog guard but a bit of protection is always good.
I looked at a Milford one but was a bit shocked at $595 not inculding fitting (well fit it myslelf anyway )
But then found Ausguard who do a defender cargo barrier . But was $375 ( not inculding fitting but wanted £80 if i wanted it fitted). more than £200 less than the Milford . Still has all the same saftey specs and everything
Well i fitted the Ausguard cargo barrier yesterday . very very pleased with it . Same as milford, and very strong and easy to fit into the 110
Here is their webb site

Looks very similar to the Milford, except for the top brackets. I take it they bolt on to the C-piller bracket. What is the bottom half like?
Shame no-ones doing one locally for the new Defender's.

Yeah the top has a bracket that bolts to the U channel under the window and loops over the top to the bar. Saves having to cut about the panels ( therefore you can take it out and show no signs it has been in .
The bottom of the barrier goes down to the floor and has L shape brackets that hold it down to the floor. As i said easy to fit
The only major differance betweeen this and Milford is you have to wait for 5 working days for them to make it as they don't stock them but are made to order. But for $200 differance i could live with that

Does it have the stretch straps that the milford has? These things are great. Where I used to work we did crash tests and found that when barriers are hit by things these stretch straps stopped the barriers breaking away from their mountings.
The first crash test the barrier broke away and the dummy was pushed out the front windowWith the stretch straps the barrier stayed in place. It still wasn't pretty but was survivable. All in a 30k crash!

No it does not have the streach straps but did not see them on a mates Milford carrier .
Be surprised if anything got though this barrier

It certainly looks pretty good
Either way I think these things give really good rollover protection too. I know I've seen pictures on this forum of rolled over LR's that were flat from the bullbar to the tip of the crash barrierTo me - this is just as important as their ability to stop stuff.

Very true about the rollover stuff
When mine went upside down I was pretty glad I had it, as there were 3 of us in the front seat and a fair bit of gear in the back. Could have caused us some serious head injuries.
But more importantly when I pulled it out to switch over to my other Defender we could see in the rear bulkhead; the mounts had torn the metal from all the force pushing it down
Hi dm_td5! Hope all is well up there in the NT.
Just thought I would let you know that I spoke to Milford last Wednesday regarding the availabilty of a cargo barrier for the Pumas and they told me it will be ready in July 2009. Hope this is of some use.
Cheers...
Good to see they've decided to do one after all. I've actually put the OEM LR one in which I imported from the UK.
