Disc brake Salisbury conversion on a county. What master cyl and booster

    Guys,
Ages ago i put a 130 Salisbury disc rear end in my county, and only today have i finished it enough to drive it.....

    Brakes are POX

What master cylinder and booster have you used when you converted a Drum rear to disc on a county???

    Clarkie,

If you have a donor vehicle, use the Defender pedal box, booster and M'cylinder aswell that is the way we do it and it feels like a Defender after that.

Defender Pedal box because the booster mounting pattern from the county is too far removed from the defender booster pattern. I have heard of someone using the dual stage disco booster, BUT I can't confirm if it will fit etc. The Td5 Defender uses the twin diaphragm type booster, but I reckon the brakes on the earlier Defenders are just as good with the single diaphragm type.

If you are going to try a Disco booster and cyl, make sure you use a 1994 (MA facelift) one as it has the single front brake lines like the county.

Sorry I don't have a Defender pedal box etc All been used for what you are doing.

I have a 130 rear in my RRC, with the calipers and all and it works fine with my original 4wdisc setup even though the pistons in the rear calipers are slightly bigger diameter.(Very small difference)

Fred Smith put a Defender 130 master cyl/ booster setup in mine, as it has discs in the rear (130 rear end).
I can lock it up at 60kph .
Must try it a bit faster

Mine had 4 wheel discs when I bought it. Previous owner said he did it with a "factory conversion kit". Maybe this is covered in a spare parts book or disc?

Let me know how you go with the booster Clarkie, I haven't had time to really research it / compare for myself. I was concerned mostly about the pedal attachment as they are quite different.
