    TDV6 Oil in vacuum line.

    G'day All,
Have had the problem of my brakes not responding in my TDV6, so booked it in to Austral, Brisbane this morning and according to them this problem has just been made the subject of a recall.
    Regards Steve

Yes, just released as such by LR.

    At last!

    Hi Scott,
From other threads, it would seem that previous repairs involved replacement with parts having the same P/N. Now that there is a recall, which parts are different?

    Thanks,
    Peter

The recall isn't actually for replacement of the vacuum pump. There's a new hose to be fitted between the pump & booster, LR018673.

There are a few checks to be done before any repairs are carried out depending on where oil is found.

My pleasure at this news has been somewhat dampened as my vehicle is a 2005 model & too early for the recall. wtf! I guess it's out of warranty &, therefore, doesn't deserve LR support.

Good luck, however, to those included.

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

PS: Has anyone with VIN Nos earlier than allowed had to have this repair?

If yours is doing this then I do not think LR will refuse to fix it. Argue and if you loose take to Fair Trading. You have a reasonable expection of functioning brakes beyond the warranty period.
It does seem strange that the Vin nos do not start when they were first imported.

    Hi Caver,
    No problems at present.

Like you, however, I feel that this should be a recall item & so was hoping to avoid problems until the recall eventuated.

If it "raises its ugly head", Ill certainly be approaching LRA for a satisfactory resolution.

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

If you have oil in the line you have a problem. If it hasn't happened yet it probably won't.
From time to time I would undo the connector next to the vac booster and tap the end onto your finger.

Mine is pre the Vin recall and was out of warranty when LR replaced the booster & vacuum free of charge a couple of months ago. No arguments - they just did it. They called it goodwill warranty.
