    Main Muffler removal??

I've been told if I remove the main muffler out of the exhaust system of my '99 Td5 manual Disco, I may gain a little more power down low / off the mark.
Is there any truth to this? Would I be wise to remove the muffler?

    Cheers..

    yes an no,,

it lets the gases flow faster an smother out the back, witch intern lets the turbo spool faster, witch gives you beter down low, but you will only realy notic this on a manual,

but the main reson is that it sounds meaner

Yeah no mucking around.. I had planned on doing it a while ago, but wasn't sure whether to do it or not. I had all the gear and bit the bullet.. Glad I did now...

Have you got your own pipe bending gear?

How did you make the flanges, or did you just buy them and weld them on?

I had an old muffler that was knackered, so I cut the old flanges off that and used them. As for the pipe itself I had it bent up some months ago.
