May head down on friday. sometimes it is good but maybe sunday would be best for bargains. Cheers Brett
Hoping to head into the 4x4 show in Melbourne this weekend.
Looking to pick up some recovery gear, air compressor and perhaps a UHF.
Haven't been to a 4x4 show before, is it a good place to get some bargains or are prices pretty much what you can pick up from the general store or online?

Show Details
There may be bargains, but the primary value of the show is that it is everything in one place.
I'm wondering about visitor numbers this year given the date and location have changed. I'll be there Friday night and probably both weekend days I expect. Quite a bit more going on than just the vendors.
Generally you can get some good prices on "carry away items" like compressors, recovery kit etc.
If you're a member of a 4WD Club ( affiliated to 4WD Victoria ) you can get an entry discount.

There can be .
Just make sure you know normal retail $ for items before you go.
I will be on the LROCV stand from 6.00-9.00 Friday night.
Drop by and say hello![]()
I'll most likely be there Saturday. I've printed off some prices of some things I'm interested in. Will take my LROCV card, thanks for the heads up on that!
I usually hit the Timber and Working With Wood show each year. Prices are pretty good there and the range is huge. Should be some better demos at the 4x4 show though.

Let me know what you think of the show grounds layout.

All the 4X4/camping stuff is in one place, next to the arena. The usual vendors are there.
I wasn't exactly bowled off my feet by the crowds, which means bargains may be had but as others say know your prices.
Worth a look though.
Went along on Friday night. Bloody freezing and WET. A lot of the vendors were packing up by 7:00pm, crowds were at best, ordinary I think. there seemed to be more activity in the fishing section. Picked up a UFIXIT windscreen repair kit for $35. I'll let you know how it goes but the demo was very convincing, apparently enough resin in the kit to do at least 7 "bullet holes" so is much cheaper than paying O'briens or similar to do the same repair.
Also got to see a good comparison between the VMS and Hema navigators. The Hema has been reduced to $690 now and really seems to represent pretty good value but the 5" screen on the VMS (compared to the 4.3" on the Hema) was really nice to look at. Hema have a 5" model coming out very soon....at $990.
I thought over all it was a reasonable show but I think all the vendors would have been sweating on a good turnout for the 2 weekend days.
