Gday
I'm in the process of prepping a new machine for delivery at work, it only came in this morning.
They come absolutely coated in a waxy film, which I imagine protects them during shipment
This stuff is a bugger to get off. A fella at work suggested Shellite, then hitting it with the steam cleaner. Didn't work too well
The other idea is watered down Dynamic 2000, leave it for a bit then hit it with the steam cleaner. I haven't tried this one yet
Just wondering if anyone would like to let the world know their little secret for getting this bloody stuff off, reasonably quickly?
Thanks
Sorrry Jock, no idea on price these days. It's a thinners type product, if you brush it on, initially, saving the runoff into an ice cream tub (do you have ice cream there, or is it too cold) you can keep reusing it. Final clean with Prepol wetted rag.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
How about Kero jock ?
When we pre deliver trucks they also come with a similar wax covering on the chassis and engine and we find spashing kero over the area's and then just hitting it with the steam cleaner brings it off,
its nice to know when our new vehicles are being predelivered that the paint is being subject to chemicals and steam blasting. dont the manufacturers know what the coating is and how to remove it properly?
Prepwash or wax and grease remover should do the job as well.
All are solvents. Wear appropriate PPE etc... If the surfaces are smooth, and the machine isn't too large/innacessable, rubbing it over with a rag should do.
Thanks for the ideas fellas
I'll have to try the kero trick as well, if I can find someThanks cobber
