    Swap an LT77 for a R380

    Can I swap my warn out LT77 gearbox for a R380 gearbox with not yo much trouble ? into a 1993 200tdi .

    We did the same conversion on a 93 200tdi disco, it was pretty much a strate swap, you can run the same transfer, but make shore you swap the bell housing (don't try use the lt77 one on the r380, we found out the hard way)
    It would probably be different on a defer though, so can't say for shore

    I believe on a Defender it is near impossible...

    I was under the impression from a friend who tried to get hold of one for us it was a bell housing swap...its just the bell housing is hard to get hold of for the 200tdi
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    i looked into this while back ashcroft transmissions did make a shorter input shaft an i think i need to use a lt85 bellhouseing then it all bolts up
