    rims for county..

    hey guys...

hope someone can shed some light on this for me.. I have just bought some disco steel wheels and fitted 255 85 16's on them to put on my county
I was under the impression that they would be fine on my county..

on full lock they just scrub on the radius arms.. ( i can live with that) but...
when the rear flexes up the tyres just touch the top spring mount.. not enough to cause damage but it just kisses it...

I obviouslly need to get some different offset rims but i dont want the tyres hanging out past the gaurds..

Does anyone know the difference in offset to a defender rims and a disco rim.?

    Cheers
    Mikey

Go for some 0 offset 16x7's i think you would keep them under the flares at that size

or get someone to flip your disco rims!

    Gday Mikey

Your rims should be alright with the disco offset and 255's.You may need to adjust your steering lock stops at the front.

As for the rear maybe some new springs but there alot of county/defenders with diso rims and 255's with no problem.

Just bought some new rims myself 16x8 with zero offset and 285 x 75's. They dont scrub the radius arms, but I havent test them off road yet.

If you can find someone to cut flip and re-weld the centres of the disco rims with say about an inch more off-set that should do it, have never had a set done but we have played around with flipping them our selves, it's not realy that hard to do, might cost $80 or so per rim...

BTW theres no way around the rubbing on the rear besides more offset, unless you really limit the up travel, the county/defenders have 6in diameter rear coils but the disco's and rangies have 5in, thats why they can run them on stock disco wheels.

Capt Coleman from here bought King Wheels rims in Brisbane 16 x 7 with 0 off set for about $120 each, but only come in black. He posted a photo, a search should find it. Most tyre places will sell white sunny type rims in the same size for about $100. 130 rims in 16 x 6.5 is another option (just).
