    Close call..

Went for what turned out to be a quick run out to glasshouse yesterday..

3/4 of the way up a rutted hill.. the rear uni let go and and sent me back down into a bit of a tree.. lucky the tree was there though, as she probably would of rolled as it was starting to go sideways a bit on the way down..

I had only replaced the rear uni's a couple of months ago, but probably gave it too many berries on the way up.

Damage wasn't as bad as what i first thought.. smashed the rear light and the force creased the rear side panel in..

    Heres a few quick pics..

The most interesting part of the whole day was after it happened I only had front wheel drive and had to get back out of the area I was in.. I tried several times to get up this rather easy hill but it would just keep spinning the front (even with the air locker in)

Ended up trying it in reverse hoping the weight over the front wheels would be enough to get that bit of extra traction.. It worked a treat

Another fun day at Glasshouse and few more battle scars Mikey.

    Hows the rims? Offset Ok?

Good to see you were able to drive it home, I was only talking with you the other day about damaging rear drive flange and driving home with only front wheel drive. You went one better and smashed the Uni .

Is the tail shaft still useable?

A is the failure point. looks clean but thats where it started.

B top 2 threads on the grease nipple seem a bit bright, that may been some thing or may not. ether way it started where the thread is cut for the grease nipple. a good argument not to use grease-able unis i think

Yeh, i reckon it should buff out..

The rims are perfect mate.. They clear the rear spring mounts but still slightly touch the radius arms on full lock.. but I can live with that

I might take the tail shaft in to get checked cause there is a bit of damage on the end where it snapped, I think it was just from it spinning around hitting the underneath of the 4by... Hopefully its not too bad
