Any advice/ history on this defender?

    Land Rover Defender Td5 110 Xtreme - Trading Post=

It's a td5 with several surface scratches on the side of the body(bushes etc), a bit of rust under accelerator pedal and a oil damp area between the engine/sump and the gearbox as well as another patch between gearbox and transfer case. Fair amount of mud on the chassis but no other obv. rust.
Is there anything else to look out for?
Does anyone recognise this defender and could tell me it's history?
I am considering buying it and would appreciate any help/ advice.
    Thanks

I am in no way implying it's this vehicle but a few years back i went to a Pickles auction here in Perth were a pristine ~2003 blue wagon like this sold. Only problem was it was a write-off due to being submerged in salt water The dash was out as well as a missing cubby box. Anyway it turned up on carsales a month later at a dealer in SE QLD for premium bucks.

I've always spared the odd thought for the poor bugger that's got it sitting in thier drive. The ply wood cubby box and another feature I forget gave it away.

Thanks, it has the original style mid box and the rust behind the acc. ped is only a tiny bubble smaller than a 5c piece.

Can't tell you the history but from looking around myself atm, I would say that TD5 Defenders have slipped quite a bit, to the point where the Red Book price is about right

That makes this a little over the market price for a private sale TD5 and I would expect to pay around that money for a dealer car (3 month warranty). You'll certainly find more with the milage and equal or better condition. Bargain hard, though, if you like this one. The rust might well be the tip of the iceberg.

I do believe any submersion in salt water is classed as a statutory write off, so the one in the pickles yard could never be re-registered.
    Cheers,

    Ben.
