I find that hard to believe. What I do think is that the new 2012 defender will be a rebodied disco 3-4 platform with the 2.7 TDV6,if priced right it would be an instant success. Pat
I was talking to a guy today that runs a fleet of lease vehicles and he was telling me they lease a lot of defenders out west to companies etc, the reports are they are good but a little under powered and Land Rover Australia have had so many enquiries for more power for the defender that they are developing the new 3.0 twin turbo v6 to go into our range here, It is expected to be released mid 2010 and i was wondering if any one else had heard anything or not?

if it is true i think it would take a lot away from the jappers market share.
I find this very difficult to believe, particularly the time frame. If a new engine were proposed for mid 2010, as an Australian special, there would have to be some running round testing by now and getting approval for ADRs, and I would be surprised if someone on here had not seen one if that were the case. For mid 2010 release, they would have to be tooling up for production - which would need to be done overseas as I don't believe they have the capacity to do it in Australia now.
I suspect it is a "possibility" for the Defender replacement 2012 or later.
It seems unlikely that the present design Defender can be sold in Europe after 2012, and among the possibilities is that the existing Defender could continue for markets where it is possible to sell it. This could remove the need for a small engine as in Europe, and in turn see the V6 in the existing Defender. But this is pure speculation, and in any case would not happen before then.

No it's fine. Except when you blow an intercooler hose
The Puma's got a very torquey little engine and tows very well.
That said, would be even better with the 2.7 TDV6 or better yet the 3.6 TDV8

it does seem a natural upgrade to the 2.7,,,
maybe with the 2012 model,,,
the defenders had a few engine changes lately,,,,,

Does anybody know why LR didn't put the 3.0 TDCI engine found in the Ford Couriers into the defender? Was it too big in size? Maybe too tall?
