Where does this tow hitch go?

Does this towball Land Rover Defender or Series Dixon-Bate Tow Hitch - eBay Tow Bars, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 17-Jan-10 17:08:26 AEDST) bolt directly onto the rear bar?

I'm looking to change my current hitch as it hangs a little low.

You can bolt that one anywhere-might not be legal though.
My series3 had one bolted to drop plate from original tow bar,also one on front bar. Good around farm.
Collectors price? I've a couple for sale if thats what they're worth-though different make.
I reckon you'd have to plate inside of crossmember & use spacers on bolts to use for serious towing or recovery

I too don't think they are legal and I can only talk for Queensland.

My 90 has one of these, it was in place when it went through its NSW RTA importation inspection so I don't think its illegal, not in NSW anyway, they also carry a land rover part No. I would agree with Brett that plating the rear cross member would be a good idea.

It is the same as i have on my 90 , and have had on it for the past 7 years. 3 of which in the uk and 4 here in Qld

its legal providing its adequatley mounted.

I dont rate them (the combo one on ebay) for use with lunette rings but they do make an excellent combined tow ball and recovery point.

Yeh it is a mantec wheel carrier. Opens with the door. Very good quality one . Had no problems with it and has been in the car 7 years now
