weight of an 86" laden / unladen. etc

G'day,

does anyone know what the Gross Vehicle Mass is for a 1955, 86" Series 1 ?
got my Landy at the Engineers today and they ask me what the GVM is.
couldnt find anything on the web search.

my old rego sticker only has Tare 1300 "G" on it.

The oldest owner's handbook I have is for a 2a, but the numbers will be pretty similar - basic 88 - with water, oil and 5 gal fuel = 1339kg. No maximum GVM is given, but maximum load is specified as driver, 2 pax and 454kg. So GVM would be close to 2000kg

My 86/107 'instruction manual' says (for 86):

• weight dry: 1254 kg
• weight running, with oil, water, 5 gallons petrol and driver but no passenger: 1365 kg
• weight maximum approved gross loaded: 1963 kg (IS THIS GVM?)
• maximum approved payload (in addition to 2 front passengers): 450 kg

this is the info im after, great! there are allot of pages in my manual are missing and i had a feeling there would be info in the book somewhere.

Also some good news today, the Landy now has its Engineers Report and passed with flying stars........!

Congratulations, Chris! Well done and well earned. You have put an enormous amount of work into it.

Did this report cover the seatbelts? I'm interetsed in what they look at with these retro-fits. I have little kids and am beginning to think I won't be able to take them driving when Arfa finally gets back on the road.

yes, the seatbelts were their only concern as they said to make the driver and passenger seats both lap sash belts like the middle seat belt instead of the 3 point over shoulder belt. you cant mount on the rear tub top rail as it is too low for the shoulder.

lap sash is basically right across your waist line. keep it simple keep it real.....!

my Landy has a 186 in it and i took it to the Engineers today for a VASS certification.

they had to assess the engine conversion, test the brakes, and look at the seatbelts and check that a washer bottle/washers have been fitted. they pretty much have a thorough look over the entire vehicle.

Then one of the engineers says wheres your demister? i said there....look......push that lever out, these Vents are my demisters mate! LoL

Chris did they have to inspect any chassis repairs?

A few people now have told me that repairs to chassis are tricky to get past a roadworthy test, but expect most 1950s Landies will have had them at some stage.
