Now, where do I put this thread? I know. Forward Controls.

I didn't know they made these.

    Forward Control Jeeps

    Mick,

As it says in the comments there was also a FC170 model (it was made between 1957 and 1964). Some of these were used in Australia by the Department of Civil Aviation on airports - I think later used as crop-sprayers.
There's also a comment about one surviving in Brisbane.

I know of one and will chase up the owner to see if it is mobile and if so can he bring it to the NRMA Motorfest next year.

Ambulance Rescue in NSW had one as their first rescue truck, known affectionately as the "Q-Van".

It is restored and still gets around. I believe ASNSW still own it...?

We had an ex DCA one in The Shire Bushfire Brigade in the 70's used as a fuel wagon. I think DCA used them as either a Dry Chem or CO2 carrier.

    Yes,

It was purchased from public donations for the St George area Ambulance station in 1961 and is currently stored at Northern Division (Central Coast) and "may not run". It is one we would also like to get to the Motorfest in 2011. From memory there was a second based at Narrabeen, also purchased with public donations. Don't quote me on that but I am getting more information.

In March 1962 local subscription ambulance services in the Metropolitan area were incorporated into the Central District Ambulance, later amalgameted into what is now the state-wide Ambulance Service of New South Wales.

I know of one of these up here, a trayback that may be a tipper. Another one I had heard about through my search for LR 2B FCs turned up at the local tip (cut in half and gutted).
