Rims wanted for 2A Forward Control

Is anyone hoarding five rims for a 2A forward control (or Def 130) and want to part with them?
If you can help please email philip@rethinkstudios.com.au

Do you mind if I ask the end destination for the rims?

    Too right Phoenix

I am not going to scavenge original S2a F/C or more importantly S2b rims for someone to use on a Defender or County!

Of the three S2b's currently in my custody only one came with a full compliment of the correct 569203's. Between the other two vehicles there were only 2 of the 543384 (S2a F/C) rims fitted.

I have managed to acquire another set of 569203s along with a set of 543384s for the third vehicle.

If I'm feeling benevolent I may be encouraged to liberate a 569384 to a worthy cause.

Ok, that's odd. My 68 2b has four 543384 rims which I can only assume were on it from new. No, they're not for sale. On the contrary, I'd like to find another two for spare tyres. I don't know what's on the other FC I know of.
The only other potential source I know is from the equally rare One-Tonne Land Rovers. Another bloke told me recently that Austin Champ rims may fit. Somewhere else on this forum I read that 30s or 40s Bedford or Commer rims could, too. FJ Holden stud pattern is also the same, but they use narrow 15 inch tyres.
Question time: Do Defender rims foul anything when used on FCs?

It is interesting and something that I'm not 100% sure about.

The pommys call, what I call S2B rims, fire engine rims probably because they seem to be fitted to fire engines in the UK. If you look in the 1966 forward control parts manual it indicates 543384 as the rims for both S2A F/Cs and S2Bs however in the 1972 FC parts manual it shows the 569203 rims without mentioning the 543384 number.

The story I heard for the change was that with the introduction of the S2B there was an issue of snow chains fouling on the rear springs and the solution was to offset the rims an 1" further out. This may mean that the first of the S2Bs had the 543384 which were subsequently superseded to the 569203.

This would make sence as my December 1967 S2B had 3 of the 543384s and a regular 272309 while my (2 owner) June 1968 S2B has 5 of the 569203s.

Perhaps this is the reason for the change in the suffix letters. My Dec 1967 is a suffix "A" while the June 1968 is a suffix "B"? (Just checked Suffix "B" march 1968 to January 1969)

BTW. The split rims you are looking for come off a Morris Commercial LC of the late 1950's.

They are 6.5" wide and almost exactly the same offset as the 569203s.

Dad bought my Uncle's Zepher as a replacement but the steering wheel came off while negotiating the Princes Highway in Northern Wollongong and we crashed into a lamp post - my first prang at about 6 months old - things then really went downhill because we then bought a Holden.
