very cool
In 92 my wife and I did a trip taking in the 3 corners of Queensland.
Had a play on Big Red on the way home. Late afternoon and got to Birdsville pub for a meal just after dark.
We were coming from the west but drove down and back up from the east just to prove the old girl could do it.

very cool
On the way out we went to Camerons Corner then to Oodnadatta via the Painted Desert.
From there, past Lake Eyre, Ayres Rock, Alice Springs, Finck Gorge, etc.
I dont have prints of these as its all on video tape.
From the Alice through Santa Teresa, visited the Mac Clark Acacia Peuce Reserve. Stopped in at Molly Clarks but her carer said she was not having visitors that day. On to Andado , Dalhousie Springs then Purni Bore where we spent a couple of days.
There had been rain earlier and the wild flowers were about.
Purni Bore had a "spa pool" for relaxing in, fed by a pipe from the bore. If it got too cold one opened the valve a bit to warm it up.
Along the French Line to Poeppels Corner.

While we were there we had this weird sunset. That night a wild Willi-Willi came up and blew tables and chairs away. I was up naked in the middle of the night chasing them.

Well that was the trip to see the 3 corners of Queensland.
We had a look around Innaminka and the Dig Tree and made our way home

These have been on before but I shrunk them too much and the thumbnails would not expand. Now I have got a grip on photobucket.
Land Rover Club trip to Big Boys Park in the 90,s. I was last down. Knew the hole was there but with trees each side couldnt dodge it. See LH front wheel went down into hole it gave a lurch and fell over.
In hindsight I should have stopped and filled it with rocks before crossing.
Everyone had gone back to camp by then. Had a long walk back to get the troops.
One winch rope to stop sliding down the hill. Another over the top to the chassis, and over she came.
Waited a bit for the fluids to drain back. Kicked the trusty Isuzu in the guts and drove back to camp. Unhurt but wiser in the foibles of Forward Control vehicles.

The achilles heel on any forward control layout. 101s are not quite as bad, Pinguaers are worse. I am aways weary of holes to drop wheels in when going down hill.

Roverlander has the welder on the back at the moment so took it over to the Rifle Range to weld up some new swinging targets attatched to an old kids swing I found at the dump.
Hasnt been run for a couple of months but that trusty Isuzu fired right up.
