Just a quick note, as the NT News made the same mistake (on the front page!)a few years ago, weary means tired while wary means careful. Aint the English language grand! You can completely change the meaning of laughter by adding an S, and the opposite of a continent is an embarrassing accident!

Back to the point, however, these kind of pics inspire me to make wild and unrealistic plans. I think I'm off back out to the collection to pipe-dream.....

69 2A 88" pet4 (still in disguise), 68 2B FC pet6 (still resting quietly, while I dream of what if), plus 13 other project/parts cars (1xS2, 5xS2As, 7xS3s).

Roverlander has not being doing much lately so I thought I would give it a gearbox swap. Out with the ex Rangie LT95 and in with a 95a ex 6x6 I bought at auction a few years ago.
Then I thought that I might as well remove the series 3 padded dash I put in back in the 80,s. Its always bugged me. I dont like that plastic stuff so out it came and a galv 2a firewall went in.
While it was out I had the radiator recored as well.

A few small jobs ticked off the list there...

Slowly fitting bits.
Its 12 volt but has a 24 volt starter. I had a double system last time but now have gone straight 12 volt with a series/parallel switch to start it with 24 volts.

Fitting new bug screens . I could not have got in to drill the holes without my vintage Black & Decker Shorty. Does not get used much but worth its weight when needed. I have a Ryobi angle drill but it wont come close to this little jigger.

Is that an arrangement that takes the gear lever linkages in from the side? If so what is that off?

That linkage is standard for the 2A FC. It has the gear lever on the floor by your left leg.
The 2B put it through the centre cover between the seats with a bent bit of pipe going back to the top of the gearbox,
When I put the Isuzu and LT95 in back in the 90,s I welded the 2A linkage box on to the top cover of the LT95 as you see it now.

Ok - how well does it work on the LT95. That is something they should have done on the 101 as the cover for the gear lever cuts into the large flat load space just behind the engine.

It works as well as it did on the series box. Its no fast change by any means as it has a bit of slack gathered over the years.
Later I might get time to build the ball joint up a bit to get it a better fit in its socket and just tighten up bits generally but it works well enough.
These have a box extending into the load area as well . Covering the rear of the engine. I have to make a new bigger one to take the turbo as well now.
