Had a very enjoyable trip to Rangier's yesterday. The 2a behaved faultlessly, but it is a bit thirsty when pushed along near the speed limit. (made it back with ten litres to spare from one and three quarters tanks)

And it was cold. Which makes it all the more surprising that my grand daughters, who went down to the creek with the other kids, ended up in soaking wet clothes (but they live in Yass - and want to go swimming in the dam today!). But the heater in the 2a works well.

However, my admiration has to go out to the SLOW member (who shall remain nameless) who, with his son, had the courage to drive to Coolah in winter in a 2a with no door tops. And did not bring gloves!

I don't know how Coolah is going, but at 0600, Dubbo was the coldest place in the state.

    That sounds pretty "extreme".

I can see why they think Coolah is cold, it was a full 0.2 degrees hotter than that in Ipswich this morning.

    Cheers, Mick.

Not sure that that is correct although it may feel that way, the Dubbo recording was -4.7 compared to Goulburn Airport at -7.1 and Threadbo top station -6.4 (and they're still -3.5) Latest Weather Observations for New South Wales

What I wouldn't want to be doing is camping under canvas in any of the areas.

Well we are up at Coolah Tops playing football and a BBQ lunch.

It was -4 at the homestead this morning on the gauge, and frost on the ground until well after 10:30.

We have fixed more things around the farm this morning, Tony's Rangie window, then headed into town. We checked out AYI077 and will bring him home this afternoon. The local paper came out and took photo's of the vehicles and will be running a story about our visit in their next issue.

State of Origin tonight, and the friendly rivalry has already started. Organizing pizza and Bundy from town tonight, and it is game on tonight. Thought about the pub, but the locals might not take too kindly to all of us in Qld guernsey's rubbing it in when NSW loose

Scenery is beautiful, the day is perfect, Tony's and my youngest girl's have bonded well and having a sleep over tonight.

Shaping up to being the best holiday/trip I have ever done. In fact I know it already is.

I was just quoting the information relayed by ABC radio - but regardless, it was cold.

I guess the ABC was probably reporting the "coldest major town" rather than the "coldest place" (AWS), although one could dispute whether Perisher Valley (-5.5) constitutes a major town or merely place.

I think you could be right - I suspect they work off a list of major towns.

It was not that cold here, probably because we were shrouded in fog, although there was a very heavy frost. Minimum here was about 2.
