    Stolen Campertrailer

During the afternoon of 24/09/12 some friendly lowlife deciding he deserved to have a holiday more than our family - collected our campertrailer from the frontyard of our house in Kurunjang (Melton) VIC. The trailer had locked cable through the wheel locking it up, and a tregg hitch. No drag marks through the gravel suggesting they came prepared to cut the cable, and hitch up with a tregg coupling.

SWMBO was home and heard noises out the front, however there are new houses being built nearby so builders noises are pretty regular. She's feeling pretty guilty - but I'm just glad she didn't go outside while they were partially hitched up with a pair of bolt cutters in hand.

What really hurts is the vast majority of our camping gear collected over the last 5 years were also in the trailer, so gone from pretty much self sufficient to having nothing.

    Brand: Ranger Campers
    VIC Reg: T26612
    Chassis: 6T9T20V9790FMB002
    Unique features:
    Tregg off-road hitch
    6 jerry can holders
2 x 60 litre under slung water tanks
External white battery box on passenger side
Small solar panel on top of tool box
Grey body and camper cover, white rear door and tool box lid

Vic Police have been notified - if anyone sees our camper please contact local police.

    Thanks all!

Sorry to hear that mate. You might want to post the details on here as well
    stolen campers

Many owners are now fitting Satellite trackers to their campers due to the number getting stolen these days. Not much use to you right now though

You may also want to post the details up on the myswag forum as this is quite an active CT forum as well (takes a while to connect right now)

Thanks all. Guess probably less likely to get questioned collecting a trailer during the day than the night. And on a weekday more likely to have everyone at work too.

Not holding out much hope to get it back - even the police have admitted if they pull over a car with a trailer they normally only run the rego on the car, only look at the trailer rego if something seems suspect.

Thanks for the suggestion on the other websites, have emailed the guys at campertrailers.org to put up on their website, will try the others as well. Will also send something off to National Parks - don't know if they look, but seems reasonably likely a Ranger will see our camper one day - probably resprayed but worth a try.

You can bet it has new plates and a new VIN by now and likely a new paint job.

    Hope it had insurance.

Are you keeping a lookout on the carsales and auction sites? You can bet these people want to get cash for their activities fast.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Might be right Lotz-A-Landies but as about 430 other hunting type gents have now looked at the post will not hurt I hope. Locks only stop honest people. Theives think evey one is a thief. Those who feel peoples property is not "mine" cannot understand those who steal views nor they ours.

I think most people who steal are usualy not the brightest sparks amoung us. They may not be as clever as your thoughts.

Thanks all for the comments. Only purpose in posting pics is in case they are stupid thieves. Never know, they may just take it down the highway looking exactly as seen in the pics, or set up in a Park somewhere. Or post it up on a website to sell, so am keeping an eye out for that. But as Lotz-A-Landies stated above, I suspect more likely that it is painted and re-vin'd by now. The positive in that regard is that the trailer was a one off, turned out there wasn't a market for how they had built and set it up so after a while on their rental fleet sold it off at a bargain price. If all they do is re-vin and re-paint will still stand out.

However for all I know they may just have wanted the canvas for a trailer they legally own, and the trailer itself has been cut up by now. In the end unfortunately I suspect will not see it again.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
