Thread: L462 First Edition Stolen

Just thought I would let posters know we had our 2017 First Edition Discovery stolen from the front of house on Sunday night. Car was parked on street, FOB keys inside house, at least 25m from car. Alarm did not go off, immobiliser did not work. We live in Sth East Melb. Unfortunately I was not aware of this possibility and didn't have any other theft deterrent devices, nor did we have any tracking device installed. Car would normally be parked in the car port (open but at least behind a double gate/fence) but was on street that night for convenience. Unsure if that would have stopped them?
Was a nice car, loved driving it. Assume it was a professional job so very unlikely we see it again. Just thought I would encourage people to increase their car security, police said car theft is out of control at moment.
Imagine insurance companies will stop insuring cars with remote entry etc for theft if they do not have extra security installed. Am just hoping my insurance does not try to deny claim.

Yes, keyless entry / start vehicles have had notoriously poor security since the get go. It's only in the last 5 or so years manufacturers have been actually forced into doing something about it.

Exactly, and the 2017 KVM sounds like it wasnt updated (locked) with the software update. Although the right kit can still defeat that.

I'd like to say to the OP that I hope you recover the vehicle OK, but having has a couple of vehicles stolen and recovered and another stolen and written off - You're better off having good insurance and never getting it back.
