Ben,
That end plate casting is just the sort mine has, same material, webs etc and the brake is the same.
Thanks.
If its worth a trip to Dubbo to pick one up that you still had to pay for...well there's either more to the story involving a good looking bird or they are sold as often as Isuzu Countys :D
EDIT BTW Ben you have over 1000 thankyous now
IMHO the highmounts are better winches than the lowmounts. Though only rated at 8000lb, they will pull harder than higher rated lowmounts because of less thermal issues.
Some don't have the free spool knob on the side, but it is probably easier to power out.
Parts are still available for the old ones.
They do have brake problems - worn and cracked friction discs, circlip coming off when worked hard, worn bearings, seized with corrosion through long neglect.
There are several easy mods to fix most issues and make them better.
Cheers John,
When i'm ready to pull it apart I might pick your brains for hints and tips to make the most of it if thats alright.
Apparently rebuilding starts around $400 and goes up from there, im fiscally challenged so shall do it myself as much as I can.
