You can have any gear as long as it's second.

Puttering along tonight and when I tried to go again there was no first. I could get the lever into the right place, but nothing happened.

Couldn't find third, drove home in second.

After I pulled up at home I could find third, still couldn't get anything in first.

    LT85.

    What's wrong?

    Cheers
    Simon

    Been there, done that.

And I'll probably be revisting that town when I eventually get the turbo on.

Had a test, only first missing.

Had another test, third gear was where reverse usually is, reckon it might be the selector.

    Ta, I'll get onto it.

Its the selector(s) allright , one little Grubscrew has come undone , the one on the center rail . Rip the top off , neutralise the selectors and tighten up grubscrew (or if your unlucky , repalce roll pin )
