LT95 gearbox-transfer oil migration -which way does it go?

some miss conceptions, but then it all resonably new knowledge to me anyway

as 400HPONGAS, 350RRC and Mick_Marsh are on the money.

The fill levels are only a couple of cm difference in height so there is really no problem there. Better if a balance pipe is fitted from filler to filler, that way the gear box is never overfulling, that is if it is needed?

maybe check in you have your wading plug in the bell housing you could be losing a bit of oil from the pump cover, some time a bit hard to tell if your rear seal is a bit tired as well

Fitting the old equaliser hose is a cheap and nasty way out .
You need to "peg" the output spacer to the shaft splines so they rotate at the same speed and dont induce a Pump effect .

I'm listening, how have you been "pegging" the spacer thingy to the mainshaft splines?

Putting my LT95 back together now and wondering on how you did this?:)

on the oil filler for the TC is there a 90 deg filler pipe comeing out or is there a boult a bit like whats on your diff?

loctite bearing mount stops it pretty much forever, if you go this route I never want you to bring me your lt95 to fix....

if its going gearbox to tcase its the seal failed

if it goes tcase to box then its the spacer turned itself into a pump.

the sneakiest solution Ive seen is a 3/16th hole drilled in the tcase/gearbox plate at the correct level for the gearbox oil level.

dont forget if you fit the balance pipe or drill the hole as a temp fix then you should really also link the breathers.

I was cleaning up my LT95 the other day and under the grunge, I found a sight glass fitted next to the gearbox filler plug! The PO said the box was rebuilt by maxi drive - maybe Mal fitted this at the time. It looks like a vertical groove has been ground into the side of the box and glass epoxied against it on the inside. Should make it a bit easier to keep an eye on the oil.
