Thanks Damien
I have a few workshop manuals and the CD but have found gold in the EMEI G104-1 which has a step by step for the process, so simple that even I can follow it

Hi I have done 2 of these boxes in my lifetime. What needs to be done is on the slinger there is 2 holes at the end. You weld in 2 spigots that will engage into the splines when the slinger is in its home position. This then means that the slinger turns at the same speed as the splines and does not act like a pump and the oil remains where it should be. The slinger is a tube that goes between the transfer case side to the main gearbox and the outshaft passes inside it.
Many years ago there was a magazine put out by the Range Rover Club of Victoria from memory it was called torque?. In this local produced magazine was many many mods and fixes for the Classic RangeRover. I have a copy here somewhere, it was/ is a very helpful publication, so many useful ideas this was one of them...
