Disco 2 brake lights not working
G'day all:
Hoping someone can send me off in the right direction to track down a problem I'm having with my lack of brake lights.
Fuse is ok (F25 on internal fuse panel) and I'm guessing that the brake pedal switch is ok, as the cruise control (which also relies on this switch) is working fine. None of the brake lights (right, left & rear door) are coming on and the globes all check out ok with a multimeter.
I'm guessing it's either an earthing problem, a connector problem (god knows where they are!) or the ECU.
Coincidentlally (and probably unrelated), around the same time my radio (after market) lost reception with all AM station and is poor on FM stations.
I look forward to any suggestions, as we are heading off on holidays in a couple of weeks and I dread to think how much a stealer will charge to investigate this gem of a problem.
Cheers
Rolf

It could still be the switch. If I recall correctly the switch is twin circuit (one for the cruise and one for the brake lights) therefore the cruise could still function properly with the brake lights inoperative.

Thanks BigJon:
Any idea how I can verify if the switch is at fault ?

Disco 2 brake lights not working
G'day BigJon:
Just a follow up note to advise that my brake light problem is fixed!!
I'd pulled out the brake light switch which tested out ok on a multimeter, but I still took your advise and purchased a new unit regardless - once fitted this resolved all my problems.
I'm still baffled why a switch that works ok unloaded fails once installed into the vehicle, but I don't care anymore either !!!
Once again thanks for your prompt advise, it saved me a great deal of heartache and wasted time.
Cheers
Rolf
