    TDI timing belt replacement- what tools ?

    Ok, i've put it off long enough so the belt kit must go in. I will probably have to make some of the tools like the balancer holder unelss some has aset i can borrow, i dont have any gasket goo so do i need any and what should i use ? Any other advise/ tips are appreciated.

    The difflock guide is pretty comprehensive and will get you from go to whoa...
    IP locking and flywheel locking tools can be made with drill bits and brass plugs.
    You may need a way of removing the harmonic balance pulley... generic pullers will be a start.

    If you need to do a cooolant system service, now is the time to pull the radiator and IC, gives a bit more breathing space.

    Just been reading the difflock site, i will pull the rad and ic to give me space plus i need a coolant change so that will make it easier. Puller i will be able to get from my old man as he owns a bearing business, locking pins i think i will make as he has a lathe also.

    If you follow the Diff-Lock instructions, you should be OK.

    Just don't forget to disconnect the fuel pump solenoid when you're removing the crank pulley bolt.

    That had crossed my mind, dont really want a flying rachet or breaker bar .
