    Rear spring dislocation

Twice recently my 97 Tdi Disco has half dislocated( so to speak) its rear passenger spring. The first time after doing some fairly rutted tracks, the second just with bitumen driving.
I bought the car with OME springs & rancho shocks. Would it be possible that this set up is unsuitable with the shocks having too much travel?
I also recently removed the rear swaybar as it was rubbing on the Longranger fuel tanks, I think if I had`nt it would have eventually have worn a hole in the larger tank judging by the mark it was making.
The first time it partially disconected (in the ruts) the swaybar was connected.
Anyone have any suggestions, Id hate to think what,d happen if it pops right out.
    Cheers Dean.

yeah happened to me all the time....

just put some jubilee clips around them to hold the springs in or get a proper spring retaining kit

I had my spring tied in with a baggage strap for over a year to stop it popping out off road..now I have relocation cones
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Where does one get these "relocation cones" from ? In Australia !!
Are they better than the old straps I bought from Les richmond 20 years ago ?

We use exhaust clamps to hold the springs in on the county, work perfectly, and you won't break them unlike hose clamps

Depending on the lift this usually happens when the spring is of too high a rate for the application so are too short.
OME springs are usually a very high rate compared to standard so the spring is shorter unladen than a softer spring will be for the same ride height.
It could be that the shocks are too long but probably because the spring is too short. If you do not have extended bump stops and you have long shocks, sooner or later you will destroy them on maximum jounce so maybe check you have 2CM up travel on the shock when the axle is on the bumpstop..

The short answer is you can retain them with dislocation cones or clamps, but I do not think either are legal and really it is a band aid. Limit straps are another fix to stop the spring extending .

I had this on my old 77 RRC with Lovells springs, when on the front they would SPROING off the seat on max extension. Fixed it with LRA springs Red AFAIR.
