hi
discovery 2 td5 the auto trans will not change up the gears stays in 1st gear if u put accelertor down hard it will change up a gear (which seems to be 3rd or 4th gear) then the m&s lights start to flash and it stays in that gear until you restart and the same thing happens. The oil looks ok
and at right level has any body had this problem or have any ideas or know of a good auto trans repairer close to Nelson Bay

Try looking in the elctronic diagnosis section and the thread about 'members with diagnostic equipment'. Should be someone near to you with a Nanocom or Rovacom or Autologic etc. Sounds like an electronics issue to me. Did it happen all of a sudden?

it did happen out of the blue while driving the m&s light just started to flash so stoped and restarted and the problem started to happen it also would not start one day but after turning the key a few times it started
i have charged the battery and cleaned terminals have also checked electrical conections on trans and all earth points i could find all seem ok
is the nonocom lots of $$ i will look in the diagnosis section and see how i go thanks again

Rovacraft have them for sale I believe, not sure of price though. Well worth the investment IMO.
I still reckon it is electrical and not a trans problem.
Check the wiring plug onto the TX switch on the LH side of the trans, these switches and their plug etc have been known to give trouble.
