Windscreen replacement

Early diesel Discos had a heated screen which might be why they asked the Q. By 1996 both models had the same screen though which is why the $$ is the same.

G'day Scouse, thanks for the info, makes sense now,,, the questionaire would be generic for all model Disco's.

Is it possible though, that if the seals/rubbers aren't right it could cause a rust problem later on?

And INWC, if its an insurance claim, surely you would think that if the rubbers are worn/damaged, or even fatigued, in removing them, they'd have to replace them. (?)

The finishing rubbers are supposedly necessary when the screen is replaced so they should be covered by the insurance company. A good screen fitted can re-use them but it sounds like yours are a bit worse for wear.

They usually don't cover the rubber on conventional screens though (the old type sealing rubber).

Just to add a bit to this subject.

Beware the aftermarket wind screen. I had one of those fitted not long ago. Big mistake! To cut a long story short it leaked water, it couldn't be centred in the body frame and it stood proud on both top corners by 10 mm. The screen fitters solution was to use a tube of filler. Fortunately my insurer saw it from my point of view and arranged for another replacement screen from some one else.

I've read a few posts in the past about badly fitting screens...
Do you know who the second screen was from?
I'm up for a new screen soon and it would be good to know which companies have ones that fit properly.

There is only one Steve- original Land Rover. If the vehicle is a long term keeper then the extra expense [doesn't matter if the insurance company is paying] may be a good investement when you consider the potential for damage from water ingress. As to a fitter - talk to your local independent LR workshop- they should know who to use and who to avoid in your area.

There's a bit [a lot] more to my story but I won't chat about this at the moment as it is currently being resolved by my insurance company in my favour after Easter.
