Yep, I’d say the flasher unit also. Mine used to work intermittently. Could pull out the unit, tap it a few times, and would usually work for a week or two. Eventually bothered to get a new one and its been good for years.

Last night I finally worked it out. I found out a while ago that the flasher was fine. Turns out the switch was fine and the wire that supplies a constant power feed to the flasher had 12v, but when I plugged in the relay, that dropped to 2v, which wasn't enough. So there is a bad contact somewhere up behind the dash.
I found a wire that power up with the ignition and jammed that in there and the indicators work fine. Then this morning when I got to work, i turn off the key and the engine keeps going. Whe wire I had used must have been through a relay, so it applied power back through the system, keeping it's own relay open and everything running. Pulled the wire and everything shut down.
At least I know what the problem is now. I won't be pulling the dash apart just yet though so I'll try another quick fix again tonight with a more suitable power source.

After more mucking around tonight, turns out it's the hazard switch... must be a bad contact inside.

Glad to hear you were able to find the problem. You learn a lot about electrics when you own a Land Rover!
